Dami Mafe - The Power of Partnership

June 06, 2025 Atomic Data

With support from his family, Dami found his passion for technology. The power of Summit and Atomic Data’s partnership helped him turn his passion into a career.

Even before Dami knew he wanted to work in the IT industry, his family recognized his interest in technology. “My family noticed it before I did. I was the one tasked with fixing every little electronic in the house,” he explains. It wasn’t until his dad and sister urged him to look into Summit Academy’s IT training that he seriously considered turning his household duty into a career. “At first, I didn’t want to do it,” Dami admits. “But I tried it. From the first week, I was really interested. I was learning new things, which is my secret passion.”

During Summit Academy’s IT training, Dami not only discovered his talent for technology, but also gained the confidence to pursue it professionally. What had once been a hobby—fixing electronics and running a phone repair business—transformed into a realistic career path.

Summit’s IT training introduced him to the deeper layers of technology—how to troubleshoot, diagnose problems step-by-step, and think critically through complex issues. “Summit taught me how to deep dive into things. I didn’t have that knowledge before, but working with one of my favorite teachers at Summit, he laid it out easy—a plan for me to actually diagnose and get my IT skills better.”

Summit’s partnership with Atomic Data helped Dami move from the classroom into an entry-level job. Today, he’s in a Solutions Consultant role, where he’s established a successful career in tech sales. A typical day starts at 8 a.m. with emails, research, and prospecting. He dives into industries like healthcare and manufacturing, searching for companies that could benefit from Atomic Data’s services. Then the real work begins—crafting personalized messages, cold-calling IT managers and CTOs, and delivering his pitch.

“The thing I like best about what I do is the thrill of the chase,” he says. “Going out and finding these prospects, listening to what their current pain points are, and seeing how Atomic can fix that.” Dami attributes much of his success in this role to the technical skills he learned while at Summit. “I’m talking to CTO, CEOs, and IT managers of companies, and they have a very high background of IT. Having that hands-on knowledge really gets them to trust me and actually consider working with us.”

Since graduating from Summit, Dami’s built more than a career—he’s built confidence, community, and a future he’s proud of. In February, he celebrated four years at Atomic Data. “Before, I thought this is just a hobby, something I liked. But I gained the skills and was able to demonstrate it and that got me a career,” he reflects. “It’s been a wild ride.”

Dami’s journey is a tangible example of the power of partnership between accessible training organizations like Summit and leading industry employers. “Going to Summit, making that jump, it did change my life,” he says simply. “I have a career. I have friends. I have money now—that helps me afford to travel. I love traveling.”

With Summit providing the skills and Atomic offering the opportunity, Dami didn’t just find a job—he found a place to thrive.
