Atomic Data, LLC is looking for a solid Linux System Administrator who will plan, implement and maintain server hardware and software in support of business, and networking applications. The Linux Systems Administrator will support infrastructure and is expected to provide a high level of technical support to our customers via automated ticketing system and telephone. A Linux System Administrator is responsible for complex customer issues which involve being resourceful, creative problem-solving and have the ability to identify the source of problems; as well as keeping the customer aware every step of the way. They will also be responsible for performing administrative tasks to maintain system operation, install new systems, maintain system security and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for performing administrative tasks to maintain system operation, install new systems, maintain system security and performance.
- Ability to configure Postfix/Sendmail
- Installing, Configuring, and Maintaining services in Apache, MySQL
- Provide various system logs and search them with proficiency
- Ability to create and mount file systems
- Provide high level overview on how FW/LB works
- Able to identify hardware problems and schedule maintenance in our systems
- Identify MySQL issues
- Perform patching on a Red Hat system
- Perform kernel upgrades
- Add and configure basic PHP and Apache modules
- Ability to perform server QC
- Responsible for building and maintaining documentation for production and development systems
- Respond to internal trouble ticket system requests to repair systems that are not performing correctly. Document repair in ticketing system, and if appropriate publish in the knowledgebase. Communicate issues and timeframes for issue resolution to the customer.
- Provide Level II technical support to Helpdesk/TAC team members via ticket escalation and telephone call
- Provide end-user support in systems administration areas, develop and update systems documentation, and provide back-up for other members of the IT Infrastructure Team, Level II support for Helpdesk/TAC team members.
- Participation in on-call rotation
- Ensures availability of 24×7 on-call support for emergencies
- Attends to obligations and supports other company initiatives as directed.
Requirements:
- Requires minimum 2-3 years’ experience working in a computer technical field
- Advanced knowledge of the Linux operating system
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent work experience preferred
- Experience configuring/maintaining: NIS and NFS, CIFS, SSH, DHCP, DNS (Bind), and Apache web server.
- Data center experience (racking, cabling, install and configuration, configuration management)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of common text editor and able to troubleshoot and configure standard services, Web/mail/DNS
- Understanding of DNS principles, understand zone files, and be ability to add/change DNS entries
- Good knowledge of PHP configuration and My SQL foundation including add/remove DB, grant statements, show slave status, log files
- Basic ability to read and interpret Firewall and Load Balancer configurations
- Basic troubleshooting of clusters
- Knowledge and experience with SPLUNK
- 24×7 operations experience required
- Good interpersonal skills to interact with customers, senior level personnel, subordinates and team member
- Requires some on-call/after hours work.
